A funny thing happened on the bus to school the other day. (Yes I didn't win The Big One last week in case you're wondering why i still take the bus)
This lady was making her way to the back of the bus when she tripped/poked her leg/brushed against the end of an umbrella that was jutting into the aisle. She glared for a while at the other lady to whom the brolly belonged before sitting down.
And then in that time honored Singaporean fashion, she tried to make the umbrella lady lose face by speaking loudly to no one in particular about the danger of exposed umbrella tips.
Umbrella lady sure as hell wasn't going to take this one sitting down. She started complaining to the person next to her about idiots who don't look where they're going when they walk.
Well i have to hand it to her for standing up for her right to poke people with the tip of her umbrella. But if it were my umbrella that someone had tripped over and they were trying to make me feel guilty about it, i think i'd have just resorted to an appeal to good ol' elitism.
Hey lady, you don't like getting poked by stuff in the bus right? Then fucking make enough money to buy a car lah!
Actually this sort of explains why rich or smart people seldom complain about stuff, except maybe not having enough time for their many mistresses or toy boys. Almost every complaint you can think of in daily life can be resolved if you've got the cheese or the brains.
Don't like tiny matchbox HDB lifts that smell of urine? Then live in a landed property lah!
Don't like the shitty teachers or lessons at your vocational institute? Maybe you should have studied harder and gone to RI.
Don't like having to queue up for the machines at a sports council gym? Make enough money to go to California Fitness then!
Don't like being told to knock it down? Maybe you should have gotten 4As and become a scholar officer or MO then.
And so on and so forth. Well looks like the elites really aren't the source of all our problems, they're actually the only ones who got everything right!
